CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), also known as Africa Cup of Nations. This is a football competition in Africa. It was approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was first held in 1957. Since 1968, it has been held every two years, changing 2013 to the year of odd numbers.

Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia participated in the first tournament in 1957. A total of 16 teams had been scheduled to participate in the tournament since 1998, but Nigeria withdrew, and until 2016, the format remained unchanged, with 16 teams drawn in four of the four teams, with the top two teams from each group playing in a "knock-out" stage. On 20 July 2017, the Africa Cup of Nations moved from January to June and expanded to 16 to 24 teams.

The 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the biennial International Men's Football Championship in Africa. The tournament is hosted by Cameroon and runs from 9 January to 6 February 2022.

The tournament was originally scheduled for June and July 2021. However, on 15 January 2020, the CAF announced that due to unfavorable weather conditions during that time, the tournament was rescheduled to be played between 9 January and 6 February 2021.

On 30 June 2020, the CAF moved tournament dates to January 2022 for the second time due to the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic across the continent, retaining the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations title for sponsorship purposes.

Although Algeria is the defending champions, they are eliminated from the group stage. Hosts Cameroon was knocked out of the semi-finals by Egypt on penalties and finished third. Senegal beat Egypt on penalties in the final and won the trophy for the first time.
